Eyelids close shut, and the redhead breathes in his scent, feeling an overall sense of tranquility; he has always been her rock, the stability in her life amongst the chaos, though how ironic that sounds given he causes most of that mayhem, but Tony possess a quality she could never find anywhere else, love; his adoration for her blooms a warmth from within. this is why she stuck with him, this is why she came back. ❛ have you thought about it? ❜ she breaks the silence, referring to the proposal. ❛ before this, i mean. ❜
his head tilts, as if he’s truly having to think about it.

❜ the serious expression briefly in place will quickly dissipate into an arrogant grin, a certain twinkle in his eyes as pepper finally returns the embrace. eyes hood over until fully shut when she presses even closer, their foreheads resting against one another’s in the most comfortable and peaceful of ways. the silence that follows doesn’t bother him either, for the hum of the conference attendees on the other side of the door create a comforting air about them. and then said silence is being broken by pepper, but the question breaking it is one that has his heart skipping a few beats.

❜ to lie might hurt her feelings, even if it does mean he retains that oh-so-tough demeanor, but pepper would be able to see through it. thus, lying would be pointless in the end. it’s why he chooses to tell her the truth, tony pulling away some and moving hands to cup her cheeks so that their gazes meet.
❛ i do wanna marry you, pepper potts. but i won’t be asking you in the middle of a board meeting or press conference or anything. if i can help it, it’ll be just us.
